Turbosmart Turbo? Its about time!

Turbosmart Turbo

For years many of you have been surprised to hear that Turbosmart doesn’t actually produce Turbos. And it did seem odd that a company with such a specialism in boost control would not make turbos.
But anyone who knows turbos knows that they aren’t a quick thing you can whip up in a workshop. It takes years of experience to develop a turbo and that is why we are only just seeing turbos in the turbosmart range.

Released yesterday (31/11/23) at the Sema show in Las Vegas is the TS-1 and TS-2 range from Turbosmart.

Turbosmart Turbos

This Phase 1 as Turbosmart is calling it is just the start, and we fully expect the Australian boost specialists to end up with the most comprehensive range of developed turbos out there. If the rest of their product range is anything to go by.

First look at the Turbosmart Turbo

The TS-1 features only oil cooling, whereas the TS-2 features water cooling and oil cooling. We have always favored water-cooled turbos here at Walton Motorsport from a longevity perspective (unless fitted to an air-cooled engine, looking at you, classic 911!)  But will be excited to test out the oil cooling-only options. We can see from the pictures that there are provisions for speed sensors and boost references. And we have also had confirmation of 3x  v-Band sizes, as well as T3 and T4 housing options.

This is a really exciting development for the team at Turbosmart and you can be assured we are already working with them to ensure manifold compatibility and will look to offering these new units in our kits. Will there be a better package than a Walton Motorsport exhaust manifold combined with a Turbosmart Turbo and Turbosmart wastegate? It is infact usually Turbosmarts products that push our own development.
