A Weekend in April

April 25th, 2016 by

What can we say about this weekend other than Walton Motorsport powered cars took some great results.

On track this weekend we had Matt Carter of Team Japspeed, Paul “Polo” Cheshire and Lee Barker of Midnight Motorsport on track for Japfest at the legendary Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire. Over in Ireland Kirsty Widdrington and Keilan Woods were both competing at Mondello Park for Irish Drift Championship round 1. All drivers have full Walton Motorsports Manifolds and exhaust systems on their cars.

Keilan Woods

Keilan had not driven his car in 7 months but that did not stop him putting together a storming qualifying run to score a very high 90.08 in his first event of the year. This result allowed Keilan to qualify in 4th place, Keilan pushed hard in the battles through to the top 16 but unfortunately lost out by the smallest of margins to Paul McCarthy in the very bright BMW E36

Kirsty Widdrington

New season new start and a very new look for Syril the Silvia. Kirsty has had extensive work carried out over the off season and unfortunately that plagued her practice runs with problems, Not giving up Kirsty managed to borrow a fuel pump and got straight back to it.

Lee Barker

Lees first time against the big boys of BDC, having just gained his BDC license for the Pro Am category in the British Drift Championship, Lee took full advantage and jumped in at the deep end in the Japfest. Sadly a damaged radiator ended Lees day early.

Paul Cheshire

Paul Cheshire has decided to take a step back from competitive drifting for 2016, but is has been attending “fun” events such as Spring Matsuri and now the Japfest competition. Paul put in an outstanding performance at Japfest showing the crowds that he is still a contender with the best. Paul put together some outstanding runs with superfast entrys and lots and lots of smoke. This was enough to put Paul into third place overall.

Matt Carter

New team and a new start for Matt Carter, With his new geometry setup Matts car has taken a fresh lease of life and truely showed some of the best driving we have seen from Matt. The Judges would also agree to put Matt on the top step of the podium along with ex team mate and close friend Paul Cheshire.
