British Drift Championship Rd4 – Lydden Hill

August 22nd, 2016 by

This is the event we have been looking forward to all year, Lydden Hill for the second time in the calender, however this time to make it more challenging, The British Drift Championship team decided to run the backwards with the most technically challenging line they could find!

Competing this weekend under the Walton Motorsport flag would be:

Lee Barker – Midnight Motorsport

Danny Grundy – Motor parts World

Matt Carter – Japspeed

Pro Am on Saturday would see Lee Barker compete with Danny Grundy, Both Drivers pushed hard in practice and qualifying, with Danny Grundy ending up in 2nd Qualifying spot.

Lee Barker in the Cosmis Wheels equipped skyline would be up against the bonkers Diesel Mercedes Estate in his first battle of the top 32, With the Diesel making a few mistakes to let lee enter the top 16 where he would face Lewis Baker to make the commentators job as hard as possible. again Lee Emerged victorious to face up to Ollie Evans who Lee had previously competed against in Drift Outlaws last season. Ollie had been putting in some big runs all day, really throwing the car into the big corner with maximum angle. Sadly Lee could not match Ollies excellent runs and Ollie would continue on to become the winner of Round 4, passing Danny Grundy in the Kinzuru Kits S14 who would end his day with an incredible second place, which puts Danny in the position of Series leader going into Round 5 at Anglesey.

Pro category on Sunday would not only see Matt Carter out on track but also Danny Grundy having earned the right to compete following yesterdays excellent result. Matt Carter put in two very strong qualifying runs to take the second place qualifying position and skip straight to the top 16 with the Pro category’s slightly different format, this would leave Danny Grundy who did his best to break his Kinzuru Kits Vertex Style rear bumper in his qualifying run to face up against Dany Nevile all the way from Dubai in the top 24 battles. Sadly Danny managed to spin against the V8 S14 of Dany Nevile and lost his first battle, leaving our Pro hopes solely on Matt Carter who would knock out the Dubai’s Samer Khadra, followed by Wayne Keeber in the Toyota Soarer, to face up against Mark Huxley in the retro Celica, Matt put down 2 fantastic runs but Huxley just has the edge leaving Matt Carter just off the podium in 4th place
